Legal Framework – Primary Legislation

   

    WWRO was established on 26 November 2004 under UNMIK Regulation 2004/49. This regulation has been amended/replaced with the Law Amending UNMIK Regulation 2004/49 on the Activities of Water, Wastewater, and Solid Waste Service Providers (No. 3/L-086) approved by the Kosovo Assembly on 13 June 2008 in accordance with the Constitution of the republic of Kosovo.

    These two legal acts established the legal framework for enabling WWRO functioning.

Legal Framework – Secondary Legislation

 

    In accordance with its legislative authorities, WWRO has issued secondary legislation – 14 Rules – which more in detail set forth provisions concerning specific aspects subject to WWRO regulatory remit such as: licensing, tariff determination, service standards, disconnection etc.
